Spiced Tea for Winters

Nothing is more comforting than holding a warm cup of tea in your hands on a chilly winter day. We came up with this recipe about 3 years back and is our goto for every night. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do :)

- Nishant & Shruti

  • 4 gm Loose Leaf Green Tea
  • 2 gm Dried Rose Petals
  • 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
  • 2 Cloves
  • 8-10 Strands Saffron
  •  A Pinch of Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 Cardamom
  • 6 Slivered Almonds
  • 500 ml Water

Heat water in a pan along with freshly ground cardamom, nutmeg, cloves & cinnamon. If you like saffron, they make a great addition to the flavour.

Bring the water around 96-98°C. If you are not using a thermometer, turn off the heat when it starts forming small bubbles on the side.
Add the rose petals followed by the green tea and give it a quick stir. Cover it with a lid and let it steep for 2.5 to 3 minutes depending on the desired strength.

Divide the almonds into two cups and strain the tea over them.  If you want a sweet finish, add half a teaspoon of honey.
Enjoy the hygge feeling.
